I am not a heavy StumbleUpon user but time and time again, some of my posts get picked and stumbled upon. As a result, my blog receives heavy traffic and the StumbleUpon effect starts to unfold.
Effects Of Being Stumbled Upon
Blogging for almost three years now, StumbleUpon has been a constant source of traffic. While some people think that StumbleUpon traffic sucks, I believe in the opposite. Here are some great reasons why StumbleUpon traffic rocks!
1. Increase In Traffic
The obvious effect of getting stumbled is the drammatic increase in a website’s traffic. As more stumblers thumbs-up or review your website, traffic continues to pour in. In my experience, the spike in traffic from StumbleUpon takes a couple of days before it declines. But the StumbleUpon effect could recur everytime a new stumbler stumbles upon (thumbs-up and or review) your website.
2. Increase In Feed Subscribers
After being stumbled upon, I noticed that my feed subscriber increased more than the usual rate. The result was even better when I give incentives to stumblers for subscribing to my feed (giving away cash prizes to 9 lucky subscribers). In most cases, people who stumble upon your website end up subscribing to your feed, otherwise, they shouldn’t have stumbled upon your website if they didn’t find it useful.
3. Increase In Social Network
Feed subscriber and traffic are not the only ones that increase when your website gets stumbled. Your social networks too. For instance, when my post on Review Site got stumbled, traffic and feed subscriber increased so as my StumbleUpon, Twitter, Blogcatalog and Mybloglog networks.
4. Increase In Inbound Links
As most StumbleUpon users are bloggers and webmasters, getting stumbled could result in an increase in your inbound links particularly to the page that got Stumbled Upon.
5. Increase In Affiliate Marketing Sales
Although StumbleUpon traffic has little effects on Adsense, I noticed that after being Stumbled, my affiliate marketing sales increase. Right after one of my posts was stumbled, my traffic increased but it’s disappointing that I’ve only earned $3.57 in Adsense. To my surprise, however, I was able to make $183 in my Thesis Affiliate Marketing. I had the same experience when I was still blogging at BloggingMix.
6. Increase Chance Of Getting Stumbled Again
When your website gets stumbled, it gets to the attention of other stumblers, which increases your chance of getting stumbled again. This is made possible because of StumbleUpon’s system allowing stumblers to share their stumbled posts to their network.
Although StumbleUpon users are not fond of leaving comments, they usually check back your website for updates. When you added new contents that are StumbleUpon-worthy, they’d be glad to be the first to Stumble it, which again increases your traffic.

stumbleupon is really help in traffic genration
Stumble Upon for mys sites is a bit worthless but I agree with you the points you make .
With stumble upon i can make one weeks hit on a one day. It has a big power to make traffic.
