Weekend Link Love - Blogging Idols

by TheWeblogZone on November 16, 2008

We’re already in the 16th day of Blogging Idol and the competition is heating up. Some of the Blogging Idols managed to attract as many as 890 subscribers in just 15 days. TheWeblogZone, on the other hand, now has 566 feed subscribers.

I’m curious about how the other Blogging Idols attracted such huge number of subscribers in a short period of time so I decided to check them out. To learn from them, like I did, I’m linking to some of their strategies that helped them to boost their feed subscribers.

  • SlamBlogger is giving away $500 dollars to one of his subscribers, and this time, he’s not joking. Before you head over at SlamBlogger to subscribe, you might want to subscribe to my feed because I’m also giving away $500 in total cash prizes to five lucky subscribers.
  • DatMoney is also doing the same strategy. He too is giving away $500 if he wins the Blogging Idol. If I were you, I’d subscribe as this will improve your chances of winning a prize. :)
  • Vanae, ranked next to TheWeblogZone, is getting more subscribers by providing her readers with really useful tips. Check out her tips on how to ask someone out. She even made a video for this post.
  • BloggingFromScratch is giving away an ebook to all her subscribers. The ebook is all about blog contests and how it can help you boost your blog traffic, inbound links, feed subscriber and network. Yours for free if you subscribe to BloggingFromScratch’s feed.
  • I’ve read some else that publishing board exam results (e.g. nursing, LET, CPA, Engineering etc.) could drammatically increase your feed subscriber. That’s exactly the strategy that TechHub is using and it’s definitely working for him.

From my investigation, I found out that most of the strategies implemented by fellow Blogging Idols to gain more feed subscribers are:

  1. Place feed subscription button on their header.
  2. Display FeedBurner subscription form on their sidebar and below each post.
  3. Run a contest, promising to giveaway 50% of the total cash prize they receive if they win Blogging Idol.
  4. Give free ebooks to their feed subscribers.
  5. Quality content.

Dan of DailyBlogTips compiled a list of 50 Simple Tips to help you boost your feed subscribers. I highly recommend you check out his list. :)
