get paid blogging, sponsored post, sponsored posts, make more money

In part I of our series, I talked about the essential elements that your blog must have to appeal to advertisers and win more sponsored posts from them. In today’s post, I will be revealing 7 powerful tips that will help you win more advertisers and make more money online.

Tips To Win More Sponsored Posts

Assuming you have good traffic, high Google page rank, quality inbound links and a considerably large feed subscriber; what else can be done to win more sponsored posts from advertisers?

1. Quality Content

Not all advertisers concentrate on the statistics of your blog. Some are very particular about the quality of your content. Advertisers would even go to the extent of checking your blog for duplicate contents before giving your any sponsored post. Besides, before you get accepted to review sites, a team of quality expert will have a look at your blog. Read Darren’s post on Quality Content for more information.

2. Frequency Of Posting

Advertisers also look at the frequency of your posting. Most advertisers like blogs that are frequently and regularly updated because this is an indication that the blog is properly maintained. Another school of thought is that frequently and regularly updated blogs are also frequently crawled by search engines. This means that search engines will be able discover easily and crawl the advertiser’s website through the link provided in the sponsored post.

As a general rule, update your blog at least three times a week.

3. Ration Of Sponsored Post And Non-Sponsored Post

A ratio of 3 non-sponsored post is to 1 sponsored post is a safe proportion for your blog content. If your blog content is dominated by sponsored posts, you are less likely to receive more offers from advertisers. This is because too much sponsored post could adversely affect the credibility of your blog and your credibility as a blogger. Your readers will have the assumptions that your contents are not credible because they are mostly sponsored post so they might be influenced by the incentives given to you by the advertisers. If that’s the case, who would want to read your blog?

4. Competing Brands

If your blog is already promoting certain products, most certainly, you will not be receiving sponsored posts from their competiting brands. You can avoid this problem by doing objective reviews of products offered to you. Avoid providing guarantees to the quality and effectivity of the product you’re reviewing. This way, you would not sound endorsing the product but you’re just giving an impartial assessment of it.

5. Quality Of Your Reviews

There are advertisers who don’t give a shit about what you say in your review as long as you provide a link to their website. This is typical of advertisers who are only after building more backlinks, boost their Google page ranks and drive more traffic to their websites.

On the other hand, there are advertisers who care about the quality of your review. Other advertisers will even go through extended length of checking previous sponsored posts you did. If you’re using review sites to get more sponsored posts, most of them will archive your past reviews and offer it to advertisers for reference.

To win more sponsored posts, the key is to create quality reviews that provide advertisers good suggestions and recommendations about their products. It will also be nice if you could say something good about their products.

6. Invest In Your Blog Theme

The feel and look of your blog is another thing that advertisers look at when considering to sponsor a post. Sometimes all it takes is a look at your blog’s design and layout for advertisers to decide whether to sponsor a post or not.

I personally recommend you to use a premium Wordpress theme, like Thesis or Citrus. Or if you can’t afford to buy premium Wordpress themes, at least do some efforts to customize a free Wordpress theme (e.g. logo, header, font, font size, background etc.) Doing this will differentiate your blog and will make branding so much easier.

7. Become An Authority In Your Niche - Or At Least An Expert

Advertisers look for different things in a blog. Most of them are after traffic and link building. But a couple of them would prefer to sponsor posts from relevant authority blogs. For instance, some advertisers prefer to pay a hefty amount of money to be reviewed by Andy Beard over other bloggers, assuming their product is related to internet marketing, because Andy’s blog is an established authority in that field.

To win more sponsored posts, create a niche blog rather than a blog covering various topics because it would be easier to establish authority when you have a niche. Having a niche will also make building credibility and authority a much easier task.
